What is your background? My wife and I moved from Florida about two years ago chasing cooler weather and warmer people, WNC exceeded on both fronts!! We are still getting to know the area, but we are so happy that we made that decision. Professionally I’ve always been drawn to problem solving via software automation and that has put in me similar but very different roles at the same time, like Business Analyst, Data Engineer, and Software Developer. So any overly manual process situation that slows a team down gives me an itch I need to scratch, and that only happens once I come up with a solution for them.

What do you do at HiViz? My day is a mix of small, short-lived tasks, and a few big projects coming from the top. For the small tasks teams would casually approach showing me something they do every day that they know could be done faster and better, so we start brainstorming about improvements, and more often than not we end up improving the task. For the big projects, these are long standing pain points from upper management that require a more structured plan and trial and error, things like onboarding a new shipping software, or building the communication pipeline for our new e-commerce platform and our existing ERP solution.

What drew you to HiViz? Honestly, number one was that it is super close to home and second that it is small growing company. I came from a place where they had reached a certain level where complacency and over analysis was the norm, so after spending a few weeks at HiViz it has been such a breath of fresh air, leadership empowers everyone to come up with fresh ideas and break the mold if necessary, people are genuine and welcoming, I couldn’t be happier.

What is your favorite HiViz memory? I have only been here for around 1 month, but so far, my happiest memory is Sam getting me my favorite coffee for a task well done. For me it was a regular request that came from my boss, but Sam turn it into an opportunity to make me feel valued and welcomed to them team, it reaffirms what a blessing it is that I joined this team.

Where are you from originally? I was born and raised in El Salvador. When I was around 20 years old me and my entirely family moved to the USA to start a new chapter in our lives.

Tell us a fun fact about yourself.  I love making fermented food at home, my latest ferments are a berries kefir drink and ferments radishes.

What is a food combination people eat frequently that you can’t get behind? Almost all my family and friends love seafood, but I’ve tried several times but to me it tastes so bad.

Quote you live by? Eat clean, move your body, sleep enough, and always seek new adventures.

Song you can’t stop listening to? The Rumbling – Opening song for my favorite show of all time, Attack On Titan.

Book you could read over and over again? I’ve never been a reader. But one of the few I’ve read that I would recommend to anyone is "Good Reasons for Bad Feelings".

Best advice you were given? If you have nothing good to say, it’s probably best not to say it.

Would your rather always have to enter rooms by announcing your arrival in song or always have to leave by doing a backflip? I would rather always have to leave a room doing a backflip, because how cool is that? I would be like a ninja every day for a few seconds.
