What’s your dog’s breed (or mix), and age, and how did they join the family?
Gidget Beatrix Blasius, Petite Mini Goldendoodle, 2.5 years old. Gidget joined the family shortly after the passing of my last dog as I knew I wasn’t going to be able to go long without a dog in the house again.
How did your dog get their name?
I had thought I would get a second dog at some point, so I wanted a name that went with my last dogs name, Gigi, and I really thought Gidget went perfectly. The name has been picked out for 5+ years.
Describe a typical office day for your dog.
Getting to run around the grass fields before coming into the office in the morning and then saying hi to as many people as she can. Gidget then settles at my desk in her bed or on my desk. She loves to make little adventures to see Lee and Javier to get some cuddles from them and try to convince them to play with her for a bit before her mom tells her to come back to the desk. The rest of the day is filled with sleep, playing, and exploring the office!
Favorite office snack or treat (and is there anything they’re not allowed to have)?
Gidget loves the treats that her mom keeps stocked at her desk in the treat jar! She isn’t allowed people food, aside from the occasional cracker. Her favorite things are fruit though, watermelon, blackberries, apples, peaches, and strawberries. Gidget goes crazy for strawberries!
What is the most ridiculous thing your dog does, at home, at the office, or when they meet someone new?
Gidget is in her “Stranger Danger” phase, so there is a 50/50 chance she will bark at you or come say hi when she meets someone new (or someone she knows)! Once she warms up to you she will require non-stop pets, cuddles, and play time.
One thing every coworker should know about your dog before they visit.
Please don’t be offended if she barks and backs away from you when you come to say hi. Just stop by the desk and get a treat for her and she’ll start to warm up to you!
Would you rather your dog becomes a permanent full-time employee with benefits, or you get an extra week of vacation every year?
Definitely B. Gidget could help pay her portion of the bills and she would use her week of vacation to sunbath and run along a beach!
