What’s your dog’s breed (or mix), and age, and how did they join the family?
Bacon is a four year old Australian Shepherd. I've always had dogs and I never get the same breed twice, worried the new one would just remind me of the old one. Friends spoke highly of their Aussies so when it came time to find a new buddy, I went looking and found my pal in Pennsylvania.
How did your dog get their name?
I love the West. Wanted to keep it simple so thought about hunt camps, what makes those days in the wilderness grand...the camaraderie......the smell of coffee in the morning......and bacon. Boom, that was it.
Describe a typical office day for your dog.
Bacon hangs out with me in my office, facing the door to see who comes by. Having a dog in an office environment is a responsibility, I don't want anyone to feel bothered by him so prefer him to stay close and not wander. We'll do some walkabouts so he can see everyone and when folks want to take him for a walk, off he'll go.
Favorite office snack or treat (and is there anything they’re not allowed to have)?
His regular food is clearly his favorite. Sure, he likes a treat, but since moving him off the dry Purina and into Maev, he can't get to it fast enough. It's real food, not processed, and he loves it.
What is the most ridiculous thing your dog does, at home, at the office, or when they meet someone new?
A couple years ago he started doing what I call a "happy growl". I can't predict when he'll do it, but when he does he's either super happy about something, or honestly seems like he's trying to get my attention.
One thing every coworker should know about your dog before they visit.
Bacon sheds like it's his job.
Would you rather your dog becomes a permanent full-time employee with benefits, or you get an extra week of vacation every year?
Vacation! More time for adventure with Bacon! He's not a hunting dog but happily joins me in a ground blind for deer or walking fields for birds. And he flat out loves hanging out in hunt camp, I have more outfitters asking HIM to come back next year!
