Randy

Chief Product and Technology Strategy Officer

What is your background?

I’m married to my wife, Ellen, and together we have four grown children—Elleigh, Jenna, Gabe, and our son-in-law Chad—and four wonderful grandchildren. Outside of work, Ellen and I help lead the Grand Rapids Chapter of International Friendships Inc., an organization that provides hospitality and service to international college students out of reverence to Jesus. Professionally, my background is in engineering and product leadership, where I’ve focused on building strong teams, driving innovation, and aligning technical excellence with business growth.

What do you do at HiViz?

Job Title: Chief Product and Technology Strategy Officer
Start Date: September 2025
Describe your day-to-day: In my first 90 days, I’ll focus on learning HiViz’s products, people, and processes while building strong relationships across the engineering, supply chain, and leadership teams. I’ll begin shaping our long-term product and technical strategy—aligning innovation, supplier partnerships, and onshoring efforts to strengthen operational scalability and profitability. My goal is to create a clear roadmap that connects technology development with the company’s growth and financial objectives.

What drew you to HiViz?

The organizational mission.

Where are you from originally?

I’m from Hudsonville, Michigan. Before joining HiViz, I was the Director of Engineering at Air Master Systems, where I led product development and manufacturing for lab furniture and fume hoods.

Tell us a fun fact about yourself:

I love water sports. In the summer, I’m usually out on the lake running a slalom course five mornings a week before work. I also like to barefoot ski at least once a year, mostly just to prove to myself that I can still do it!

Quote you live by?

The only ones among us that will truly be happy are those who have sought and found how to serve.

Would you rather always have to use a spoon (no forks) or only use chopsticks?

Funny, after visiting Taiwan, I was actually thinking about this one. It has been a while since I have used chopsticks, and I found I eat much less when I use them. Having to use chopsticks all the time would help with my weight management.
